Rough Cut FeedBack
Positives=
Good angles and camera work. :)
Impressive shot through the center of the buoyancy aid (Red ring)
Good choice of location
Excellent camera work
Very sexy singer- 'haha- we love Pryor.'
Nice shot angles
Very Good!
Good Camera work..
Nice opening - blend from seagulls and waves to the sounds of instruments.
This was the overview of our positive feedback comments...
Negatives=
Lip syncing is slightly out at 11.25.
Needs more of a story to it.
"Hoodie bit" seems a bit out of place.
We feel that the feedback we received from our rough cut is very impressive and we now know what we need to do, to complete our music video to our best ability.

Rough cut
We have now finished are rough cut and are quite happy with out video so far.
We have still got a lot to put in and still quite a lot of song to fill.
Things we will be trying to achieve over the next few weeks.
- We will try to complete the whole song as there is only a part of the song in our rough cut
- We may have to film so more footage for our video as there is a long part of the song which James did not sing.
- We still need to smooth over the first bit of the song and make sure all the cut and fades are in time and perfect

Possible Locations
In our intial idea's we said that we wanted to film at a beach and the images below are of Walton on the naze which is our top location at the moment.

Old Student work
Camera Work - The use of the camera works well with the video because of the way in which the focus of the video, being the band and the lighting is presented. The shots are mainly Mid-shots and a couple of close-ups but the angle that is used is mainly a low angle looking upwards at the band.
Editing - The editing is impressive because they have used cuts and fades which work very well because they blend the two odifferent locations and the two different parts of the music video used the editing. The transitions used also make the video seem quite 'trippy' and match the background of where the band arre performing.
Setting - The setting is practically hidden from the audience and all we get to see is the band and another male who seems to be stuck in a lost location. The setting is not really used in this music video but the setting does make the band stand out and look irregular.
Performance - I think that the performance of the band was average, however the main weakness of the music video was the lip syncing because there were not enough shots of them singing.
Genre conventions - I think that the group probably met the genre conventions that they set out to achieve. They did this by the costumes used, the stereotypical long black hair, the contrast between the black and white colours and a different narrative.

Skrein- The Return of Hip Hop
The circular camera lense and the contrasting black and white tones give this video good effect and adds to the atmosphere of the song.. something else we might like to consider in our video??
Mr.Hudson Music Vid
This is the video for Bread and Roses by Mr.Hudson and The Library.
This simple video follows mr hudson along a walk for the duration of the video. This simple concept of following the singer on a journey is something we think would be suitable for our project.

Another music video example
Reverend And The Makers - Heavyweight Champion Of The Woeld
This video is very udeful because the way in which the words of the song relates to the video and the lighting used in the background, specifically in the working factory. Another brilliant asset of this video is the way in which they change the location.
Another example of music video
James Bunt - You're Beautiful
This music video is so simple but yet very effective and the music video doesn't really have a link to the words but the message of the song still gets across. This tpye of location is also very effective because it is so unusual and only in one location.
Interesting..
heres a video we like- Big City Life by Mattafix
like the documentary style of the video. Also like the speeded up effect used briefly.. would like to include a similar effect in our project.
here is the song Hold On by Foreign Beggars and Skinny Man.
like this video aswell, the manipulation of speed combined with the fast pace cutting is effective.
we like.
Our intitial pitch and idea's
As a group we decided to sit down and brainstorm as we listened to the available tracks. We heard each year by ra ra riot and we all found that this song gave us a lot of different idea's. We also found that the current idea's we all agree with but think it will be hard to blend them together into a video but we will have to see how these idea's develop.
Ideas
1). The initial idea which first came to us was the male singer standing in a busy street as people walk past him but as if in slow-motion. This effect is very unique and different to other music videos, as well as getting the message across of the song about time.
2). Another idea was inspired by the coldplay video already posted on our blog. We would also like to use this in our music video and we were hoping to use it as someone dives into the sea. The only problem is that we would really need this to have a small narrative in the video and would be very dificult to blend with other ideas.
3). Our third idea was more to do with the locations that we would be using and these could include a beach, such as Hunstanton which would be very easy to get to but there might not be as many people there that could be in the background. A forest with tree's in the backround, which could be Thetford or other forests near by. Another ideal location would be a busy city and we could film in this location at two differnt periods in the day very Easily at Cambridge or at any other busy town.
These are our simple initial ideas and we can work on them in the future.

Coldplay- The scientist
We decided to add this video to our blog because we found that the idea used is very similar to our initial ideas. We also feel that camera work was unique and the variety of shots is what we are trying to put into our music video. The method of doing the whole video backwards has given us inspiration and caused a massive brainstorming session.
